The method involves transmitting an emission signal (6) to a simulation transducer (7). An ultrasonic echo reflected from the simulation transducer is suppressed after a preset time interval, where the preset interval corresponds to a preset distance between an ultrasonic sensor (1) and the transducer. A simulation ultrasonic signal (9) is transmitted in a direction of the ultrasonic sensor, and is triggered by the received simulation ultrasonic signal and the transducer. The received ultrasonic signal is interpreted as a separate ultrasonic echo in the ultrasonic sensor to be tested. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an arrangement for testing ultrasonic sensor systems (2) a software module for programming a method for testing ultrasonic sensor systems.
