<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material for a nonaqueous secondary battery consisting of a combination of new materials. <P>SOLUTION: The active material for the nonaqueous secondary battery is composed of a mixture of alkali metal salt and a transition metal, and, by charge and discharge, desorbs the alkali metal from a compound which is made by reaction of the alkali metal salt and the transition metal, and regenerates the alkali metal salt and the transition metal from the compound into which the alkali metal is intercalated, thereby, performing reversible oxidation-reduction. By using this active material for the nonaqueous secondary battery, high capacity of the nonaqueous secondary battery can be made. Furthermore, since the active material for the nonaqueous secondary battery includes the alkali metal which works as electrolyte ions, it does not restrict the active material used for the counter electrode. For example, in the lithium ion secondary battery, an electrode containing metal lithium is not necessary, thereby safety is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
