<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a spacer uniformizing a cell gap. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method includes stages of: forming a film 17 of a photosensitive material on the surface of a substrate 1 for a display panel; irradiating a prescribed region of the photosensitive material film 17 with light energy at a first intensity and irradiating the circumference part of a region of the photosensitive material film 17 corresponding to a spacer 15a with light energy at a second intensity lower than the first intensity; and forming the spacer 15a in the region corresponding to the spacer 15a by developing the photosensitive material film 17 and forming a part having a lower height in the circumference part of the region corresponding to the spacer 15a, than a part except for the circumference part of the region corresponding to the spacer 15a.
