Class 17(2) [Also in Group VIII] Flexible leather, particularly suede leather, for use in shoe uppers, is provided on the reverse face of the leather with a plurality of uniformly distributed fine holes, preferably of conical shape, which extend for a predetermined depth of the leather but terminate short of the obverse face of the leather so that the obverse face is unaltered. The depth of the holes is <SP>1</SP>/ 3 -<SP>2</SP>/ 3 of the leather thickness and these may be 6-5, preferably 9-10, holes per sq. cm. The depth of the hole may be 1.8 mm. and its diameter at the face 1.0-1.2 mm.
