PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing an absorbent article, capable of surely integrating a surface sheet and an absorbent body. SOLUTION: The method includes a process of holding the surface sheet 4 and the absorbent body 5A between an embossing roll 1 and an anvil roll 2, integrating them and forming an embossed groove part 61b. As the embossing roll 1, the one provided with pressurizing members 31a and 31b whose height is lower than a projection part 11b on a position on the front side or rear side in the rotating direction of the roll 1 in the projection part 11b is used. When forming the embossed groove part 61b extending in a roll axial direction, (a) an upper absorbing core 5c is pressurized by the pressurizing member 31a before forming the embossed groove part 61b when the upper absorbing core 5c is positioned more on the front side than the embossed groove part 61b, and (b) the upper absorbing core 5b is pressurized by the pressurizing member 31b after forming the embossed groove part 61b when the upper absorbing core 5b is positioned more on the rear side than the embossed groove part 61b.
