PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting method of a flash discharge lamp in which pulse light is seen as a regular light to human eyes and, by changing the optical volume of continuous lighting, is felt as a soft regular light same as when an incandescent lamp is lighted, and power consumption can be reduced. SOLUTION: This relates to a lighting method of a flash discharge lamp and, more particularly, relates to the lighting method of a flash discharge lamp used for an intermediate illuminance red airplane warning light or the like, and by using the lighting device of the flash discharge lamp which repeats blinking of a certain time of interval and a certain time of continuous lighting, the continuous lighting is lighted at 40 Hz or more for a certain time and the optical volume of the continuous lighting is changed gradually.
