The method involves creating an identification feature of a stamped comment (108). The identification feature is given out or detected relative to a postage value assigned to a stamped comment on the basis of payment process carried out by a vending device (101). The identifying feature is stored as valid in a central system (103) and the identification feature on a postal item (107) is detected by a validation of the stamping of the postal item. An independent claim is also included for a system for sending a postal item provided with a stamped comment.
