PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that can reduce the number of changes in focusing condition while increasing the update frequency of display when moving the position of a focus lens for displaying or recording images continuously. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a focus lens for changing the focal position, a focus lens moving means for moving the focus lens in the direction of optical axis, and a display control means that periodically detects the position of the focus lens and controls an image to be displayed according to the position of the focus lens after the focus lens is moved by the focus lens moving means.
