<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter device which is suitable for collecting oil mist having a particle diameter of about 0.1-10μm generated from a cutting fluid during part processing by a machine tool. <P>SOLUTION: A case body having an intake port and an exhaust port is detachably provided with a cover. The inside of the case body is provided with an internal filter disposed so as to enclose the intake port and with an external filter disposed so as to enclose the internal filter. A cylindrical filter made of a folded non-woven fabric of 0.1-1μm mesh is mounted on the outer periphery of a cylinder member of the internal filter. The outer periphery of an internal cylinder member of the external filter is wound by two or three layers of a first oil adsorbent made of a non-woven fabric whose material is a polypropylene fiber, one to three layers of an electret filter made of ultrafine fiber electret non-woven fabric of 0.3-1μm mesh, having a predetermined thickness, and three to five layers of a second oil adsorbent made of a non-woven fabric whose material is polypropylene fiber.
