The plate cylinder (13) has a holding device which is arranged with a clamping plate in the cylindrical channel. The clamping plate is engaged against the continuous chamfer of the printing plate for fixing. The continuous chamfer of the printing plate is fixed at the edge by clamping the printing plate. The clamping plate fixes either the continuous chamfer or the subsequent chamfer. An independent claim is included for a method for leveling a printing plate in a plate cylinder.
