<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize manufacturing cost, by sucking and carrying a web while very well maintaining the web in surface roughness and a distortion surface, by sucking and carrying the web in an excellent state without causing disruption, separation and strain between respective members of a check roll, even when there is a temperature change in use. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This chuck roll is formed as a structure for respectively and independently arranging the axis of the chuck roll and a porous ceramics part chucked by a surface in the longitudinal direction of the roll. Thus, even when the working temperature is separate from the ordinary temperature, the web can be excellently sucked and carried without separating and disrupting the chuck roll.
