PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system which, when a predetermined control signal (RTS/CTS) from a first terminal arrives at another terminal including a second terminal, inhibits the communication of the other terminal for a fixed period, the radio communication system avoiding a problem wherein, when a predetermined control signal is transmitted within a sleep period of the second terminal driven in a power saving mode and the second terminal starts communication after the sleep period, the communication of the first terminal collides with the communication of the second terminal. SOLUTION: A communication terminal STA periodically receives beacon signals from a base station AP. The AP includes a buffering part for storing data signals, a control signal generation part for generating an advance notice control signal for notifying the transmission of a data signal beforehand, and a transmission part for transmitting the data signal after transmitting the advance notice control signal. The transmission part transmits the advance notice control signal by matching it a predetermined beacon signal so that the predetermined beacon signal and the advance notice control signal are received by the other STA during an activation period in which the other STA driven in the power saving mode is activated.
