<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box-packing device capable of detecting a transport mistake at the time of the transport mistake of an article and detecting step-out at the time of step-out of a stepping motor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The articles transported to a lining-up conveyor 58 by an introduction conveyor are lined up by transporting the pushed articles on a damper 7 while every predesignated number of articles are pushed by a pushing plate 11, and the lined-up articles are packed in an external box 2. After moving the articles at a position for transporting onto the damper 7 by the pushing plate 11, an article sensor 40a for detecting the articles present on a transporting passage 77 arranged between the lining-up conveyor 58 and the damper 7 is arranged at designated timing between starting of the movement in a direction returning to an original standby position and just before pulling-out of next articles on the lining-up conveyor 58 by the pushing plate 11.
