发明名称 Switching circuits using semiconductor diodes
摘要 1,031,779. Semi-conductor switching circuits. HUNT ELECTRONICS CO. Nov. 30, 1962 [Dec. 19, 1961], No. 45534/62. Heading H3T. [Also in Division H2] The flow of unidirectional or A.C. current through a load from an A.C. supply is controlled by a semi-conductor breakdown diode connected in series with the load and means are provided to ensure triggering of the diode by an input pulse. Fig. 3 shows a circuit for controlling the phase angle of current flow to a load 13 from an A.C. supply 11, 12. During the half-cycle when the A.C. supply has the polarity indicated current flows into capacitor C 2 until the diode Q2 breaks down whereupon a positive pulse is applied to the auto transformer L11. The transformer rings and the first part of the negative-going portion of the ring (when the junction capacitance is high due to low voltage across it) is of such a steepness that the diode Q 1 breaks down, allowing current to flow to the load. A capacitance C 1 provides a temporary supply for the diode to ensure complete breakdown and also serves to tune the transformer to a lower frequency and thus reduce highfrequency noise. Firing may alternatively occur when the negative-going portion of the ring exceeds the breakdown voltage of the diode or a two winding transformer may be used to reverse the phase so that breakdown occurs on the initial part of the ring. Resistor R 1 may be varied to adjust the point in the cycle of the supply current at which conduction of Q1 commences. Conduction ceases at the end of the cycle but is restarted by a similar action during the negative cycle if the breakdown diodes are of the symmetrical type or are connected in anti-parallel with a second similar diode. Q2 may be replaced by a switch, a neon tube or a thyratron. Alternatively it may be replaced by a saturable reactor which conducts a pulse of current when saturation occurs and which is controlled by a variable D.C. bias which thus varies the conduction period of Q 1 (Fig. 4, not shown). In a further embodiment the pulse from the reactor is used to charge a second capacitor which is previously charged to a fixed value determined by a Zener diode, the capacitor voltage being used to break-down a further diode QL arranged as shown in Fig. 3 (Fig. 5, not shown). The position of Q 2 and C 2 may be interchanged and the pulse applied to the upper end of L 11 (Fig. 10, not shown). In a further embodiment (Fig. 9, not shown) the pulse generating circuit R 1 , C 2 , Q 2 , L 11 (now designated R 1 , C 2 , Q 4 , L 11 ) is connected through a capacitor in parallel (instead of in series) with Q 1 (now designated Q 13 ) and a choke L 21 is provided in series with the load to prevent the pulse flowing through the load.
