<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network management system facilitating implementation of a state/parameter change function by SNMP (simple network management protocol). Ž<P>SOLUTION: The network management system includes a non-SNMP-compliant management object device (SNMP agent device 1) provided with an existing CLI processing means having a CLI (command line interface) that is an instruction input means of command line. The management object device (SNMP agent device 1) includes a management control interface (SNMP agent part 11) which performs transmission and receiving of an information quantity equal to the CLI by use of SNMP. In the management object device, a command of the CLI is constructed as an MIB tree (command tree 141) separately from MIB (management information base) trees of device state and parameter (a device state tree 142 and a parameter tree 143), and the MIB trees are operated by a set request from an SNMP manager 2.
