<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and control device for controlling an automobile drivetrain. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for controlling an automobile drivetrain is provided where the drivetrain (10) includes an internal combustion engine (12) that is supercharged by a turbocharger (46) and a transmission that is automatically shifted in which the transmission shift process is performed within a determined synchronization time T<SB>syn</SB>. The method includes determining the synchronization time T<SB>syn</SB>in dependence on a maximum torque M<SB>max</SB>that is defined as maximally at least approximately equal to a currently supplied torque of the internal combustion engine (12) and minimally at least approximately equal to an intake full-throttle torque available at a current speed nMot of the internal combustion engine (12) without the support of the turbocharger (46).
