PURPOSE: An object sensing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to prevent an accident generated in a getting-off process in advance by informing the lock setting of a vehicle door. CONSTITUTION: A sensor(100) senses a moving object and a fixed object. A computing unit(200) calculates distance variation amount based on the result of the sensor. The computing unit computes distance between the side of a vehicle and the fixed object. A controller(300) decides the moving object or the fixed object based on the result of the computing unit. The controller controls the door lock setting operation or releasing operation of the vehicle.
