<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter assembly wherein a treatment catheter inserted along a guiding catheter can easily reach and/or pass a lesion site regardless of the condition of the lesion site and can be fixed or held in a suitable position as required. <P>SOLUTION: The catheter assembly 10 includes an outer catheter 12 and an inner catheter 11 stored within the outer catheter 12 in a manner where the inner catheter 11 can slide along the outer catheter 12 in the axial direction. The inner catheter 11 includes a slit 13 extendable at its apical end in the axial direction.
