[Also in Division C5] Nitrogenous reaction products are prepared by mixing at a temperature ranging from 0‹ to 100‹ C. (A) an acidic reactant prepared by partially esterifying at a temperature ranging from 100‹ to 300‹ C. an alkenylsuccinic acid or anhydride thereof having at least 8 carbon atoms in the alkenyl group with 0À1 to 0À5 mole of a C 2-8 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic epoxide or C 1-8 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic polyol and (B) a basic reactant prepared by partially condensing at a temperature above 100‹ C. an alkylene or cyclic polyamine with an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carboxylic acid (optionally halogenated) having at least 12 carbon atoms and treating the resulting amido, imido, amidino or imidazolyl amine with from 0À5 to 5% by weight of a C 2-8 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic epoxide at a temperature of above 100‹ C. |
