<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermister generating no resistance in an interface between a thermister element and an external electrode. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the chip PTC thermister 1, first and second external electrodes 3, 4 are provided on mutually opposing first and second end faces 2a, 2b of a PTC thermister element body 2 having positive temperature characteristics of resistance. The first and second external electrodes include a plurality of electrode forming layers 21, 22, 23, 24 laminated in opposite directions. Out of the plurality of electrode forming layers, the electrode forming layers joined with the first and second end faces of the PTC thermister element body are in ohmic contact with each other as first electrode layers, The first electrode layer contains Ag and Zn.
