PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy in appearance inspection and increase its speed. SOLUTION: A filament winding apparatus has acquisition sections 62, 61a to acquire a profile of a wound mandrel M2 on which a fiber bundle has been wound as its shape data, a storage section 61b to store a reference profile as reference data, a comparison section 61c to compare the shape data with the reference data, and a determination section 61d to determine the acceptance or rejection of the profile of the wound mandrel M2 based on the result of comparison by the comparison section.
