PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To commonalize a partial circuit of a lighting device, and achieve downsizing, weight reduction, and cost reduction as the whole device when a discharge lamp and a semiconductor light-emitting element are used as a light source. SOLUTION: In the lighting device, the discharge lamp 6 and an LED 7 are used as the light source, and the lighting device includes a direct current power supply part 1, a DC/DC converter 2, a DC/AC inverter 3, an igniter part 4, a control part 5, a switch part 8, a voltage detection part 9, and a current detection part 10. The output end of the DC/DC converter 2 is parallel-connected to the DC/AC inverter 3 and the switch part 8, an output electric power of the DC/DC converter 2 can be supplied to the DC/AC inverter and supplied to the LED 7 via the switch part 8.
