A distributed system for controlling and monitoring operations for a
concrete plant includes: a master controller communicating with a concrete
plant
batch panel, the master controller receiving batch panel command signals from
the batch panel and translating the batch panel command signals to electronic
interface command signals; an electronic interface communicating with the
master controller; one or more field boxes communicating with the electronic
interface, the field boxes receiving the electronic interface command signals
from
the master controller and translating the electronic interface command signals
to
control signals; concrete plant equipment communicating with the field boxes,
the field boxes controlling operation of the equipment using the control
signals;
and one or more sensors associated with the equipment and communicating with
the field boxes, the one or more sensors generating operating signals based on
a
state of the equipment and transmitting the operating signals to the field
boxes.
