<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a defect of a diagram in widely used diagram computation in a CAD/CAM system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An element of a diagram C obtained as a result of computation is compared with the theoretical value of its positional relation to a partner diagram. When a defect occurs, an allowable error value for regarding it as the same point (the same line) is changed, and recomputation is made to detect the defect of the diagram in widely used diagram computation. By this, the result of the computation can stably be output. In a CAM system, a useless process such as recomputation of tool route computation from the beginning after change of computing conditions can be avoided. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
