<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily for an image after cleaning an intermediate transfer medium while further effectively removing solid toner which remains on the intermediate transfer medium after transfer even by use of a liquid developer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: latent image carrier cleaning rollers 28Y, 28M, 28C, and 28K which are in contact with photoreceptors 2Y, 2M, 2C and 2K, and applied with a photoreceptor cleaning bias to remove the liquid developer remaining on the photoreceptorsafter transfer; and an intermediate transfer belt cleaning roller 40 which is in contact with an intermediate transfer belt 10, and applied with an intermediate transfer belt cleaning bias to remove the liquid developer remaining on the intermediate transfer belt 10 after transfer. The nip width w<SB>2</SB>of the intermediate transfer belt cleaning roller 40 to the intermediate transfer belt 10 is set larger than the nip width w<SB>1</SB>of the photoreceptor cleaning rollers to the photoreceptors.
