<p>A robot control system is provided with a portable operating device (TP) and a robot control device (RC). The portable operating device (TP) is operated by a rechargeable secondary battery and used for operating a robot (R). The robot control device (RC) can communicate by radio with the portable operating device (TP) and performs the automatic operation of the robot (R) on the basis of teaching data from the portable operating device (TP). The robot control system brings the robot (R) to an emergency stop when the radio communication between the portable operating device (TP) and the robot control device (RC) is lost. The robot control system is further provided with a charger (CU), a connection monitoring unit (12), and an automatic operation continuation section (11). The charger (CU) connects the portable operating device (TP) to the robot control device (RC) and charges the secondary battery. The connection monitoring unit (12) monitors whether or not the connection between the portable operating device (TP) and the robot control device (RC) via the charging means is established. Even when the state in which the connection is not established is detected during the automatic operation of the robot (R), the automatic operation continuation section (11) terminates the radio communication without bringing the robot (R) to the emergency stop and continues the automatic operation of the robot (R) by the robot control device (RC) alone.</p>
