<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer member which can raise vibration resistance and impact resistance of an external storage device, while adapting itself to a detachable function of the external storage device of a portable information processing apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: If a slide holding part 13 is subjected to slide engagement with an engagement groove 15 of a storage slot 4, an HDD 5 can be smoothly subjected to slide movement by slide engagement with a slip property of hard materials, and attachment/detachment of an HDD 5 by sliding can be easily performed. Even if an information processing apparatus 1 receives vibration and an impact strongly, the elastic support of HDD 5 can be subjected to elastic suspension in a three dimensional direction, since a holding surface part 12d of the buffer part 12 is fitted into a side edge 6a of the HDD 5, and the vibration resistance and impact resistance of the HDD 5 can be largely raised.
