PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of suppressing erroneous determination when determining defocusing. SOLUTION: A printer 10 identifies an object region 730 occupied by a prescribed object on an image (step S430), sets a determination region 740 for determining whether the image has been focused (step S440), calculates an amount of edge E in the determination region 740 (step S450), sets a threshold T based on the position relationship between the determination and object regions 740, 730 (steps S462, S468), and evaluates the amount of edge E by the threshold T to determine whether the image has been focused (step S470).
