PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which provides sufficient light quantity and excellent light distribution and prevents the loss of the light quantity and has the distal end of a small diameter. SOLUTION: A distal end part 54 is formed of a transparent member transmitting irradiation light, a slope part 58 is formed at the peripheral edge of a distal end face 56, and the distal end part 54 is provided with an insertion part 80 which is arranged roughly annularly so as to surround an insertion part 60 and into which a light guide fiber 82 is to be inserted. At the distal end of the insertion part 80, a lens system 84 is formed which diffuses the irradiation light irradiated from the distal end of the light guide fiber 82 inserted into the insertion part 80, transmits it through the distal end part 54 and making it incident on the slope part 58 again.
