The device has a display (1) e.g. LCD, for displaying information. A partially transparent cover disk (2) is arranged in front of the display. A light source (7) e.g. LED and laser, is arranged such that light emitted from the light source is incident on a hologram (4) e.g. white light hologram, of the cover disk. The cover disk has a light coupling surface (3) in which the emitted light is coupled so that the coupled light is guided to the hologram. The cover disk is a flat structure with a surface area facing the display, and another surface area turned away from the display.
