PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the clogging of a filtration device easily. SOLUTION: A filter layer 7A includes a particulate filter medium 7 which can be moved by water flow. During filtration, mud M clogging the filter layer 7A is released from the filter layer 7A by the movement of the particulate filter medium 7 and is allowed to settle. The particulate filter medium 7, which settles together with the mud M, separates from the mud M and rises up to the filter layer 7A, because it has a specific gravity less than that of a liquid to be treated.
