PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-blast circuit breaker which can certainly cut off from a small to medium current to a large current with a small drive energy and is superior in compactness and breaking performance. SOLUTION: A partitioning member 51 which divides the chamber 31 into a main space 52a and a sub space 52b is arranged on a central axis of a thermal boost chamber 31 in the thermal boost chamber 31. The partitioning member 51 is composed of a cylindrical member housed in the thermal boost chamber 31, and the center side is made a main space 52a and the outer circumference side is made a sub space 52b. The main space 52a is spatially connected to a gas passage 11 connected to an arc space side and a mechanical compression chamber 32 through an opening 34b of a barrier rib 35.
