<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of obtaining merits of both integrated type compound eye camera and separation type compound eye camera and easily determining a composition when picking up images. <P>SOLUTION: A camera unit is a monocular electronic camera. When the other camera unit is not connected to the camera unit and the operation mode of the camera unit is set to a compound eye mode (step S12), the imaging apparatus functions as the separation type compound eye camera. When the other camera unit is connected through a connector to the camera unit and the operation mode of the camera unit is set to the compound eye mode (S34), the imaging apparatus functions as the integrated type compound eye camera.
