Disclosed is an aqueous coating composition containing an emulsion resin (A), a melamine resin (B) and a hydrophobic solvent (C). The emulsion resin (A) is a resin particle having a core/shell structure composed of a core of a copolymer (I) which is obtained by copolymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a) having 2 or more polymerizable unsaturated groups in a molecule with another polymerizable unsaturated monomer (b), and a shell of a copolymer (II) which is obtained by copolymerizing a vinyl aromatic compound (c) with still another polymerizable unsaturated monomer (d). By using such an aqueous coating composition, there can be obtained a coating film which is excellent in flip-flop property, smoothness, luster and water resistance without suffering from metallic unevenness. |
