<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the deterioration of operation efficiency caused by deviation of ignition timing by appropriately adjusting the ignition timing of fuel injected into a combustion chamber from a fuel injection device with a simple method. <P>SOLUTION: An ECU 30 determines based on signal from sensors such as cylinder pressure sensor 25, whether the ignition timing of fuel deviates from desired timing or not. If the ECU 30 determines that deviation of ignition timing exists, the ECU adjusts an ignition delay time by controlling the heating operation of fuel by a fuel heating heater 24 together with the control of fuel injection timing from an injector 4.
