PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which appropriately obtains information by using an accumulation type photometric sensor. SOLUTION: The photometric device is equipped with: the accumulation type photometric sensor 17; a first control means 21 performing accumulation control of the photometric sensor 17 on the basis of an average output value of the photometric sensor 17; a second control means 21 performing accumulation control of the photometric sensor 17 on the basis of the maximum value of the output of the photometric sensor 17; and an accumulation control means 21 controlling the first control means 21 and the second control means 21 respectively so that the second control means 21 may perform the accumulation control when performing the accumulation control next if the maximum value of the output of the photometric sensor 17 controlled in terms of the accumulation by the first control means 21 exceeds the saturation output level of the photometric sensor 17, and so that the first control means 21 may perform the accumulation control when performing the accumulation control next if the maximum value of the output of the photometric sensor 17 does not exceed the saturation output level of the photometric sensor 17.
