A fastening strap comprising an elongate body having hook or loop material on at least one side thereof. A slit 19 provides a tongue 23 and an end 17 of the strap can be passed through the hole 26 created by the slit 19. The slit may be different shapes e.g. arcuate, triangular or rectangular. The strap may have complementary hook or loop material on both sides 12, 14. The strap can be used to secure elongate items such as wires, cables, catheter tubes by wrapping the strap end 17 around the item to be secured and feeding the end through the hole 26; underside 14 then secures to flap 23. The hook and loop material on the underside 14 can also be used to secure the strap to a base sheet (100, fig.7A) which ideally has complementary hook and loop material on a top surface and an adhesive material on the underside for securing to the skin of a patient on which a medical tube may be securely held in place by the strap. |
