A lancet in which the tip of a piercing element is less likely to bend at the time of breaking a weakened portion (22) between a lancet body and a cap part. The lancet (100) has the lancet body (102), from the forward end of which the tip of the piercing element projects, and also has the cap part (104) that, before use, receives and protects the tip of the projected piercing element. The front end (112) of the lancet body and the rear end (110) of the cap part are integrally joined together in a substantially adjacent manner with the weakened portion (114) placed in between them. Either an end face (120) of the forward end of the lancet body or an end face (122) that is at the rear end of the cap part and faces the end face (120) has a projection (126). The crest (128) of the projection defines a virtual plane (132) extending perpendicularly to the extending direction of the piercing element. The other end face defines a plane expending perpendicularly to the extending direction of the piercing element. |
