PURPOSE:To aim at reducing gaps at both side surfaces of a pinion gear, compensating abrasion and preventing seizure due to the efficiency of lubrication, by providing seals and oil retaining mechanisms such as, for example, annular grooves, on the counter seal block side of a side plate and on the seal block side of a pinion gear, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A side plate 19 having one side surface, on the side of a front cover 2, which is fitted with an S-shaped seal 31, is prevented from rotating, with the use of a pin 32. Pressure oil is fed to an area surrounded by the S- shaped seal 31 through a groove 33 communicated with a discharge port 7 for formulating an oil pool. The pressure oil presses the side plate 19 and the pinion gear 17 against a rear cover 3 so that side face gaps at both side surfaces of the pinion gear 17 are reduced and abrasion thereat is compensated. Further, pressure oil on the discharge side is led through a groove 35 into an annular hole 34 formed in the side surface of the pinion gear 17 at which the latter slides on the rear cover 3, so that the side surface of the pinion gear is lubricated for providing an anti-seize ability and as well reaction force is produced in the axial direction, thereby unbalance of force may be reduced. |
