PURPOSE:To form a charge image with high sensitivity without any residual potential at an exposure part by charging electrostatically the surface of a laminate photosensitive body formed by laminating a transparent or translucent conductive layer, charge generation layer, and charge transfer layer successively on a transparent base, and exposing the surface to an image. CONSTITUTION:A corona charge 6 is arranged on the side of the charge transfer layer 5 of a photosensitive body 1, and its surface is charged to a specific polarity by DC corona discharging. The photosensitive body 1 is exposed to the image on the side of the transparent base 2 through a proper optical system 7, but the charge generation layer 4 is exposed at a light part L through the base 2 and conductive layer 3 to generate a charge, which is moved to the surface of the charge transfer layer 5 to neutralize the surface charge. Consequently, the electrostatic image consisting of the light part L where the charge disappears and a dark part D where a charge remains is formed. |
