PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication system that can estimate orthogonality of each combination of transmitting and receiving antenna elements, properly determines which of an adaptive array system and a MIMO system is superior to use a superior system, and perform switching from the adaptive array system to the MIMO system while keeping continuity of communication. SOLUTION: The wireless communication system has a stage wherein a wireless communication frame of the adaptive array system in wireless communication between first and second wireless communication devices is composed of a plurality of channels and a signal for MIMO channel estimation is transmitted from one of the first or second wireless communication device while making a round of a plurality of channels.
