PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a gripping device by preventing a rubber-like elastic body from being damaged near the tip core and the rear end. SOLUTION: The rear surface of the tip core is formed in a curved slope 10 of which cross section is projectedly curved upward to eliminate the separation of that portion and reduce a stress produced in the rubber-like elastic body 2 near the tip core for reducing the damage. Since an annular recessed groove 14 is formed in the rubber-like elastic body 2 on the outer periphery near the rear end (portion immediately near the end of a flange part), the wear or the degrading of the material of the elastic body due to its abrasion with a container mouth part can be eliminated, and the damage near the rear end can be reduced.
