PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a mobile shelf apparatus, which is provided with functions sufficient as the safety device and which is excellent in design, visibility, operability and construction. SOLUTION: In the moving shelf device where a plurality of mobile shelves 3 are installed along a rail 1 in an individually movable state, the safety device keeps intervals of working paths formed by relative movement of adjacent mobile shelves 3. When an approach blocking member 7 obtained by respectively pivoting the respective proximal ends of an upper rod 12 and a lower rod 13 to the support 6 of one of the adjacent mobile shelves 3 with a vertical interval and pivoting the end part of one of both of the rods to the other rod in the state of being movable in its longitudinal direction is made to be nearly horizontal, its free end abuts on the other mobile shelf 3.
