PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera device and a chapter data generating method therein which record motion picture data by dividing it into a plurality of chapters without requiring much time and effort. SOLUTION: The camera device 100 has a means of generating chapter data, and when a scene is changed during generation of motion picture data showing a photographed video image, the means generates chapter data which defines a reproduction starting point of the motion picture data corresponding to the point when the scene is changed.
