A light source unit and an image projection apparatus having the same are provided to prevent infrared ray generated in the light source and to improve cooling efficiency. A light source unit includes a reflecting member(143) reflecting the light source and the light source. A blocking unit(171) is prepared corresponding to the shape of the reflecting member, is separately placed with the reflecting member and blocks infrared ray. An infrared ray distribution member(170) includes a penetrating unit(175) in which the blocking unit blocking a part of the infrared ray which is generated from the light source and passes through the reflecting member.
