PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding method for a double skin panel where, even if there is a level difference between outside faces in a state where edge parts are butted to each other before welding, friction stir welding can be flatly performed in such a manner that the level difference is not left after the welding. SOLUTION: When a first double skin panel 10 provided with a first outer plate 11 and a first inner plate 12 substantially parallel to each other, and in which the edge part of the first outer plate 11 is supported by a lattice 13, and a second double skin panel 20 provided with a second outer plate 21 and a second inner plate 22 substantially parallel to each other, and in which the edge part of the second outer plate 21 is formed so as to be deformable to a direction in which the distance between the second outer plate 21 and the second inner plate 22 is made narrow are subjected to friction stir welding, a rotary tool 30 is pushed into the butted parts, the edge part of the second outer plate 21 is deformed in such a manner that the outer side face 11a of the first outer plate 11 and the outer side face 21a of the second outer plate 21 during the welding are made flat, and further, the pressing force of the rotary tool 30 is supported by the lattice 13.
