<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow selection of the type of received data, depending on the type of a storage device connected to an IRD, in a system for distributing contents. <P>SOLUTION: When a storage device 13A having only an analog input terminal Ain is connected, MPEG audio data is subjected to a decoding process and further D/A conversion, and the resultant data is output from Aout. When a storage device 13B having a PCM audio input terminal Din is connected, MPEG audio data is subjected to a decoding process, and the resultant data is output from Dout.
