The invention relates to a method and device for desalting and/or demineralizing highly-, medium and low-mineralized still water by electrodialysis in a stationary mode for producing differently purified water, in particular distilled, drinking and industrial water. The inventive device is designed according to a package circuit for placing treatable water and ion-selective membranes in different combination between an anode and cathode, in which the action of eclectic fields on water in demineralisation areas and in areas for accumulating the concentrate of extracted mineral residues is enhanced by positioning the anodes and cathodes between anion-selective and cation-selective membranes, thereby modifying the configuration of electric fields during electrodialysis.
