PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a powder molded item in which the variation of dimensions of a powder sintered product after sintering by reducing the variation among the products in the density of the powder molded item to be compacted is made small and a powder molding apparatus. SOLUTION: The powder molding apparatus 1 is provided with a die 11 formed with a filling part A by which material powder P is filled, a lower punch 21, and an upper punch 31 supported advanceably and retreatably with respect to the die 11. The apparatus is equipped with a first pressure control means which advances presses the upper punch 31 and the lower punch 21 to the respective prescribed positions of the die 11, and a second pressure control means which advances the at least either one of the upper punch 31 and the lower punch 21 until the punch attains the prescribed pressurization force after the upper punch 31 and the lower punch 21 arrives at the respective prescribed positions, then performs molding.
