The method involves providing a navigational warning kit (6) with a location transmitter (3) in a transportation unit e.g. car, where the transmitter transmits information about location data of the unit and technical data e.g. tonnage. The location data are compared with location data of another transportation unit. A warning signal is generated by a processor (4), when distance between the transportation units is smaller than 1 kilometer. The signal is transmitted from the processor through a data transmission channel (7) together with the location data to the transmitter.
